ThorSport Racing Homestead-Miami Speedway Final Practice Report
No. 13 Safe Auto/Curb Records/Mud Jug Chevrolet Silverado
No. 44 Menards/Ansell Chevrolet Silverado
No. 88 Menards/Tarkett Chevrolet Silverado
No. 98 Ferrellgas/EverFi/Drive For Savings
HOMESTEAD, Fla. (November 18, 2011)
- NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice is now complete here at
Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Johnny Sauter's No. 13 Safe Auto/Curb Records/Mug Jug Chevrolet Silverado was
fifth fastest with a best time of 32.520 seconds. (166.052 MPH). "We were a tick
loose through most of practice and the track had little to no grip," said
Sauter. "This is a fast truck and we were fifth fastest on the mock qualifying
run during a rainy lap, so I'm confident we can get it done in qualifying."
Matt Crafton was 11th fastest in the No. 88 Menards/Tarkett Chevrolet with a
best time of 32.745 seconds (164.911 MPH). "Our truck was sliding the nose in
and snapping loose center off at the beginning of the session, but by the end of
the practice I was really satisfied with it," said Crafton. "Our mock qualifying
lap wasn't the best because it was pretty rainy out there, but I have no
concerns about our actual qualifying lap because we're going to have a really
good truck."
The No. 98 Ferrellgas/EverFi/Drive For Savings Chevrolet of Dakoda Armstrong was
21st quick with a best time of 33.164 seconds (162.827 MPH). "I think tires will
be big here tonight," said Armstrong. "It was hard to get a good feel for the
truck because the tires were wearing so fast, and once I got stickers on it was
hard to adjust for the first two laps. The rain stopped us from getting a mock
qualifying run in, but I think we'll be good in the race."
Frank Kimmel's No. 44 Menards/Ansell Chevrolet was 27th on the charts with a lap
of 33.496 seconds (161.488 MPH). "I was getting to know my crew and the track
again today so it was a lot of re-orientation," said Kimmel. "Since we had a
short practice, we worked on finding speed as much as possible. We should be
fine going into qualifing. I know the grooves well here."
Next up is qualifying for the Ford 200, which will begin at 4:30 barring any weather delays. Kimmel will roll off 17th, followed by
Armstrong 23rd, Crafton 33rd and Sauter 39th of 43 trucks.
